Rahul Gandhi Rally

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will address two rallies in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

According to reports, Gandhi will first go to Hamirpur in Bundelkhand region, and then to Deoria in the eastern part of the state.

This is his second visit to the state in October.

Gandhi had earlier this month visited Aligarh and Rampur where he criticised the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for engineering communal riots in Muzaffarnagar in which over 40 people were killed.

The Congress number two had said that Uttar Pradesh is being divided communally, and added that his party is the only political outfit that can rescue the state, provided it is elected in 2014.

Gandhi said the communal riots in Muzaffarnagar were orchestrated and did not happen independently. He said his party was the only one that could rescue the state from the grip of the Samajwadi Party or the opposition Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh.

“I went to Muzaffarnagar; spoke to both Hindus and Muslims. They said there is no enmity between them and that it’s all done by political forces. …The riots in Muzaffarnagar were caused, they didn't happen,” Gandhi said.

He also lauded the Congress-led UPA Government’s pro-poor schemes.

“We will continue to work for you, right to employment, right to food, right to education….We gave employment to crores of people, and now we have got the food security bill for you.…We fought for your land and rights, got the land acquisition bill passed,” Gandhi said.

Rahul Gandhi to reach out to Dalits in two functions in Delhi

Rahul Gandhi Speech
As planned, Indian National Congress is trying to attract its traditional Dalit voters and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is leading from the front. Rahul Gandhi will address two Dalit conventions in Delhi on Tuesday.

At 9:45 in the morning, Rahul will inaugurate National Awareness Camp Scheduled Cast Empowerment at Vigyan Bhawan. The two-day camp has been organised by National Commission of Scheduled Caste headed by Congress MP P.L. Punia. "Around 300 delegates will attend the camp and discussions will take place on issues and concerns of Dalits in today's society," said K. Raju, Congress SC department chairman. With Rahul's address at 10 am in the morning, the function will start. There will be Dalit thinkers and intellectuals from across the country who would take part in debates and discussions.

Shri Rahul Gandhi will reach Talkatora Stadium directly from Vigyan Bhawan. At 11 am, he will address a National Conference on Dalit Adhikar Diwas organised by All India Valmiki Federation. The conference will discuss among other things, the abolition of manual scavenging and new proposals for the welfare of Dalits.

It is understood that Rahul Gandhi will talk about the government schemes for the empowerment of Dalits and appeal them to join hands with Congress.

Earlier on August 27 this year, Rahul had addressed a convention in New Delhi, National Dialogue on Social Disparity organised by National Commission for Scheduled Castes.  Rahul had promised maximum representation of Dalits in the upcoming elections. Today Rahul will repeat his promise. Under him, Congress had been trying to get back the Dalit vote bank which has now shifted to different regional parties over a period of time. Rahul started his efforts much before UP Assembly elections last year. His much hyped stopovers at Dalit villages and homes made national headlines. But despite all that, the party could win only five out of all the 85 reserved constituencies in UP Assembly elections.

Rahul believes that Dalits are not aware of what the government has been doing for their welfare and that's why they are alienated from Congress. With the renewed focus on Dalits, Congress is trying to gain maximum especially in UP where Mayawati-led BSP controls the Dalit vote.

Poor must dream big to take India forward: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi News
on Tuesday reached out to the poorer sections of society, and urged them to see bigger dreams for the betterment of the nation.

Addressing a Congress rally in Baran, Rajasthan, Gandhi said the poorest in the country should see the biggest dream. “Whether he is a small labourer, we say that he should eye the helicopter and one day say that my son should fly this. This is our thinking. And their (opposition) thinking is that the labourers should work the land, not have anything to eat and construct roads,” said Gandhi.

“Dreaming big is not the opposition’s mantra,” he added.

The Congress vice-president further appealed to the women to dream big for their children.

“I would ask the women who have come here to see the world’s biggest dream for their children……. So, I am standing here because I believe that you, the poor people and the women, who have come here, are the country’s biggest strength. If this country will move ahead, then, it will be do so only with your dreams. And, if we do not allow you to see those dreams, then, this nation cannot move ahead,” Gandhi said.

Gandhi, while praising the Congress Party, for coming out with its historic Food Security Bill, accused the opposition of repeatedly creating hurdles to prevent its passage in Parliament.

Gandhi said the 21st century for the Congress Party means that the dreams of the poorest of people in the country must come true.

He pointed out that the major reason for poverty in India is illness.

“We respect your blood and tears, that is why we have brought the Land Acquisition Bill,” he said. Congress leaders Gurudas Kamat, Ashok Gehlot, C.P. Joshi, Jitender Singh and Sachin Pilot and Lal Chand Kataria were present on the occasion

The poll-bound Rajasthan is expected to witness a fierce battle between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Moreover, the upcoming assembly election in Rajasthan is being seen as a litmus test for both the parties ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
